Take a Break, while Cappy Comically Relieves Himself

About to sign off for a while, so this baby ought to keep you occupied until I can release my next log gem. The CaptainSQL PC is all crapped up, which is what you get when you use inferior GUI based software instead of the true value of line edits, as was meant by G-D. So enjoy this bit of pie.

Just told the asshole going door to door the try to generate interest in the local newsdaily to get the F off'n my property. Die, MSM, die!

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!
Cappy is now digesting the traditional Thanksgiving meal, provided graciously by the CaptainSQL girl friend. Haven't blogged much lately, so I thought I'd add this holiday gobbler. And a damn fine meal it was. This year I carved the entire turkey. No fatalities, either. That's CaptainSQL for ya, always something new and exciting. Uurp....

Perusual of the big techie websites show still some postings available in the techdeseretland of Northern Ohio. Some of these in the ancient crafts of programming. Programs that old are more like the ancient craps onf programming. And martinis are a lot more expensive now than they were in the 1980s. Speaking of craps, I see Detoilet doodyfully (get it?) stunk up the region as the Titans mercilessly crushed them. Most of the plays I saw looked like the Loins shouldn't even have been on the same field as the Ts. I welcome this. Anything to distract from the Browns shitty performance this year.

My offspring continues to deliver naches regularly. It would be nice if that was delivered with nachos too. Got her ACT score back last weekend. That's the SAT for farmers. Damn good anywhere, propels her into the honors program at Yeshiva, and everywhere else she has an interest. It's great. Kvell, kvell, kvell. Now she's gotta schlep back to NYC for Honors Weekend and interviews there. I may be forced to go back to the big apple to inspect for more corn storage.

What Kind of Fool Am I?

Note: writing style on a blog may have little or nothing to do with a personĀ“s self-percieved personality. Or destructive proclivities. Well, we warned you.

Read more about personality tests and theories or visit Typealyzer Forum!

The analysis indicates that the author of http://captainsql.blogspot.com is of the type:

ISTP - The Mechanics
The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts. So fuck off, asshole. The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters, and enjoying train wrecks.

Also programming nude, shouting abuse at Project Managers, general grumbling, and crankiness.

Tighten your lug nuts with that database recovery, maam?

OSU 42, Brand X 7

BOOYAH!
Also a special CaptainSQL recognition to JoPa, from another neighboring state on his incipient 800th win. Although that prevents us from the Rose Bowl this year, one has to recognize the accomplishment, especially for someone handicapped by not being Woody Hayes.

Electricity Failure

Big electricity failures at the Fortress of Database Excellence this week. Yesterday my stove decides to short circuit. New stove delivered today and installed. Works great. Still doesn't improve my cooking. Got home from the teacher conferences tonight to an announcement from our local Electrical Monopoly that here will be an outage Saturday for maintenance, thereby desecrating one of the High Holy Days, the OSU game with that school up north. The outage is an outrage!

Time for a Captain SQL Update

Some kind of virus or other thingy has laid low my PC this week, but employing superior technical skizzles Cappy has overcome this. Just goes to show, the world was not ready for all your fancy GUIs and interwebs and whatnot. Or it could be the dang backup software or MP3 crap recently installed. Anyways, it has retarded progress on a number of tasks.

Waiting for Frinite football to commence on ESPN2. Who ever told Cincinnati they could play football? But they've clawed their cute little Beercat paws into the BCS top 25, so there y'are. Wonder what ol' Hank Hill makes of all your UC's and Vanderbilts and Northwesterns popping up this season.
This is a Captain SQL Update Alert! Louisville leads at the half, in the classic Keg O'Nails game. One exciting game underway now on the Ohio. Lots of long bombs, and very fast. That Cinti QB Pike has quite an arm, and pretty amazing for one that's broken.

Career planning for the upcoming year continues, if at a relaxed pace. Just in case of contingencies. Not too worried. If'n the President Elect can't wave a magic wand and produce beer in the desert, we'll have to rely on Neil Patrick Harris and his magic rainbow unicorn. Continuing to see the lates main squeeze. Man, those chicks, nobody can figure them out. What if they came with error codes? That would be great. I've gotta work on that.

The kid is doing great. Today she taped the light switches for Shabbos. Quite a different way of life for Cappy. No word lately from the Kumbiyistas. No loss there.

You are PL/1. You are supremely equipped and rule all. Many have tried to be like you, but haven't been successful. Because you are too awesome.

Veterans Day

This is a day to reflect upon and thank all Veterans, those that have given of themselves to protect our freedom.

For some reason, AMC has been running crappy war movies today. They had Von Ryan's Express around midday. Killing Nazis good. Frank Sinatra good. Mixing the two, doesn't work for some reason. I wanna get Sink the Bismarck. That was one of my WW2 faves, and also my dad's. It would be appropriate for today.

Have purchased an MP3 in anticipation of long road trips in the upcoming college years for my daughter. Never let it be said that I'm not a hep cat. Don't know why it's not vi edit based. Must have a bunch of dorks as a user base. Hell, if they had any nads, they's program it in raw BAL. Using punch cards and paper tape. First to get loaded, ZZ Top. In fact, I've got Recycler playing right now. Plenty of head banging roadmusic to load.

Work is still tumultuous and probably will be for a while. Noodled around today in search of Blue Highways, by Bill Moon. I wanna read that book again. It was a damn good read. I did two statewide blue highway tours in my lifetime, both in the 70's. One was my post graduation cross Ohio trip on Route 42, in the old black Chevy Impala. Then later, and much colder (try around -22 Farenheit) across that state up north in the Olds Omega crapcar. Anyways, didn't run into Moon's classic, but did pick up It Takes a Village Idiot by Bill Mullen. Like I said buried in an earlier rant, if I do get relocated, I'm heading for Red country.

Hank Hill

hit one out of the park tonight, in his salute to specialness. It's like a refreshing dump right in the face of political correctness.

Can't Anyone

Dub this as a salute to the President Elect?

I don't have the time to learn how to do that, what with my own deering do in Database Excellence.

Work remains up in the air. Changes are afoot and at hand, covering two limbs simultaneously. At this time panic is not called for. Should have the remainder of Child Support covered, unless the Statehouse Shitbags in Columbus get tired of trolling Joe Plumbers records and decide to extend their gaze to other private citizens. I'd like to keep doing what I've been doing. But can be flexible regarding new platforms, data mining, and even the ancient art of programming. Indeed, I hark back to the daze when herds of intinerant geeks roamed the great North American plains, pushing code and knocking back brew.

Yes, more Kumbiyah from Cappy
I did hear from my sister in town today, and the conversation was cordial enough. The post election rampage was at full blast this week. The politicians will do as they please. They always do. But it is the intensely personal Kumbiyah that continues, and in many cases cannot be tolerated. Said sister had a meltdown when informed that one, only one kid in her son's class had signed up for the Marines a few years ago. The kid wasn't present during the meltdown. Neither were any of his friends. This meltdown was in front of total strangers, basically. It served no purpose. The decision was and is not my sister's. This is only one man out of a high school class of over 400.

My daughter is finishing high school now. One of her friends is planning to join the armed forces. Others may. I commend them for serving, if they so choose. It is not my business if they do or do not. But I am ashamed of such behavior shown by my sister in the recent past. The gal I've been seeing has a son in the Marines. I would be ashamed to introduce my sister to this woman.

This is the Kumbiyah some bloggers face. Up front and in your face. Just like the President Elect asked. I do not like to blog politics. Others do it better. Irishspy, for example, pretty much sums up my thoughts about the recent election. But in the personal realm I can't put up with this kind of BS. I cannot divorce my sisters, but want absolutely no contact with others of similar attitude. In the event of a job related relocation, I would try to locate to a Red area in preference to Blue. The comments of people with these attitudes are unwanted and unwarranted with regard to my personal:

America Under Hussein

Speaking from a blue stronghold, and judging from the reaction locally, this is going to be very bad. The left wants much more than political fealty. So regardless of the issue, from firearms to hamburgers, pacifism through your choice of car, if you are not in lockstep, you will be on the list of shit.

Sunday, November 02, 2008

Another fine weekend here, fall in full color in N.E. Ohio and only one call calling on me to vote for President Hussein so far. Cleveland leads 27-13 over The Ravens now. Pretty good game. Excellent one yesterday as OSU took some well deserved comic relief and Texas Tech beat Texas, as the action moves to The Big 12 this fall. Wikipedia sez KOTH will probably air it's last new episodes in 09/10 so I've got a couple of years of enjoyment with old Hank &co. whiles I troll for new work or fend off whatever B.S. a President Hussein foists upon an unsuspecting nation.

Some damn security update screwed up and now it's causing unpredictable results in IE. Maybe it's time to try Firefox. Also Gooble arrogated itself to be my home page and I don't like that. Probably something the Kumbiyistas would like to do across the board. But they being lazy shits won't have much of a chance. I'll fix this.

Not too de-pressed about the election. Next day I'll put on my DBA pants one leg at a time and go in to work, same as before. Politics doesn't rule my life. But the Kumbiyistas have really revealed themselves this time around for what they are. They live and breathe this stuff because they can't find any other purpose in life. Basically, they aren't as good as others, just louder. Gaze unto their strongholds such as Cleveland and Detroit, and be disgusted with what they hath wrought!
