Bad Weekend at Black Rock
It was a bad weekend. I took off Friday, and was supposed to have my daughter with me Friday evening and Saturday for Yom Kippur. I've only got two more of these with her after this year.

At 4:00 PM the kid calls and says she doesn't want to come over. A call to her mom at the time got the response that "I won't force her to spend the time with you". There is a legal remedy for this. It is filing a Motion to Show Cause Why (the mom) Should Not Be Found in Contempt of Court. These are useless, flabby motions. They are seldom followed through by the Court. Even when they are there never are any real penalties on the mother. But that is the only legal avenue open.

Check out the archive postings. You can see how the mom has been encouraged in spurring this behavior in my kid by her congregation and the very school to which I send big $$$.

Mom continues to have old-age problems. She is, after all, old. It may be for the best that sis didn't end up moving to Boston. Observing the preening, self-important, arrogant blowhards at my kid's school, why would she want to immerse herself in an atomosphere like that?

Mom's 89th birthday yesterday was nice. Soccer starts for my kid this week. Other than that, it's back to the usual DBA heroics tomorrow!

The Holidays continue with my daughter, and soccer season starts next week. I'm going to be a busy Captain SQL. The big projects are still on track, the little ones are sleepy and falling behind.

Happy New Year
L'Shana Tova to all reading this blog! I'm in a pretty good mood as I go into the new year. I've got my kid for the Jewish Holy Days this year, the school is ignoring me (big surprise there) but the legal crap is underway without undue lawyer participation, I didn't need a biopsy, and my boss has conceded that I indeed am at the height of my awesome SQL powers!

After carefully financial consideration, I have decided to think about resuming some work-around-the-house activities that I've foregone in the past, in the interests of galaxy-class database support and chasing after my kid. At this time I'm more concerned with chasing after boys (with trusty HankHill 9 Iron in hand!) who have any untoward interest in my daughter. Management is beginning to talk sense these days, so some of that hypervigilance may be relaxed. Mom is on the way to a nursing home, and is very well off where she is now. And I see my girlfriend sporadically enough that there probably is time to mow the lawn myself, and tunnel out of the snowfall in the winter.

The ex and I signed the latest version of the Parenting Agreement. So now it's up to the Domestic Relations court.

Now I plan to turn my attention to database performance. Get out my propeller cap.

Just a little pre-holiday grooving going on. I'm ready for my kid's soccer season. Lawyer crap will eventually work out. Must say that I've never really gotten into soccer. My dad tried to introduce me to it when I was about 10 but never really got it. I did stop a ball with my head in HS, tho.

Anyway, football season is upon us. The Big 10 annihilated their MAC victims this weekend, which means that life must be in it's natural balance.

Last night was wasted meeting with the ex. The attorney screwed up some wording so back we go again. The ex is complaining about "need to show authority" with the kid. See below about how that was undermined!
