Blue State Boookstore Blues
There will be an independent bookstore closing near here. Too bad, it was a nice one and added a lot to it's neighborhood. But my experience in browsing there, as in others such as Borders in the last couple of years has been less and less comfortable. Displays seemed to be tilted toward a liberal agenda and I found it harder to access books of interest there. It was fun finding and perusing books with a politically incorrect title or author.
But I'm sure that the owners even in this hotbed of liberalism had to face the facts that they were pissing off at least 10 - 30 percent of potential customers. That had to take it's toll on business.
