Another One Bites The Dust

The late, unlamented People's Republic of Cleveland Heights has met it's final demise tonight, at least in the view of this native son. With the resignation of TommyBartender from the Martinibar, no longer any compelling reason for Cappy, et. al. to be in the environs of that outpost of the Iron Curtain. True enough the substitute bartender pours a credible drink. And the barflies remain mildly entertaining provided one know's his limits of Kumbiyah and keeps the alcohol level below the point at which one becomes belligernt upon detecting massive bullshit. But it is indeed probably time to hie further east to the friendly confines of Legacy Village, much reviled by the tofu and frufru set.

Move along folks. Nothing to see.

Nice performance by the Browns last night. Time to let Brady start for real. Very fine work by the defense. Man, with the cool off this weekend I'm getting in the old football spirit now. My even chance a visit to a Big 10 game. Gotta check out price/availability of OSU vs. Toledo at Browns Stadium.

Lots more free time now and have picked up a more serious do-it-yourself book about alternative database technology. Since work is still unsettled I look on this as a backup technology if I have to hit the road. Ix-nay on the ogrammingpay onesJay this time.

Kid sounds pretty normal in the big city. She's coming up against those big NYC grocery prices but sounds like she's navigating the intricacies of freshmanship OK.

Also told the Plain Dealer to stop delivering unwanted anti-American and Jew hating garbage to my property on Sundays, and to eat shit and die.

Got The Big Ten Network this year, so can track OSU all the way. Snored through part of the morning's review of Indiana's prospects. Now the whining has hit nosebleed level as the analysts are complaining that prepping for the opener vs. Navy will mess up the Buckeye defense vs. USC. Gimmeabreak! Can it get easier than Navy? Wait, maybe the Dover Home for the Feeble have a B team they can fit into the non-conference schedule.

Still feels strange with the kid off at college. A lot to do here. Still doing home stuff. Must reactivate learning new tech, since layoffs are still possible.

Back from dropping the daughter off at college. Also visited briefly with Erica, which is always a pleasure. Whinemeal our President that Stands With The Muslims appointed a prosecutor to attack those that defended us against terrorists by means of enhanced interrogation. Say what you want about the asshole, he does stand by his words.

Cappy's Log

Star date 2009.08.19. These are the voyages of Captain SQL. To boldly go and drop off the kid where she has never been dropped off before. To explore alien and strange life in Manhattan. Whew. Too much writing for this techie. Soving off tomorrow AM, boldly going forward across several states. Hubba Hubba.

Countdown now at

T-60 Hours and Conting. Psycho ex-wife in place for liftoff. The lovely Erica contacted for a meeting during the long weekend when daughter will be Shabbos observing and Cappy will be surveying the environs of Times Square for corn storage.

Beach Boys concert last night. Very nice. A good time. And one of the great things of those groups that are receeding into the past is they play a lot mor convenient venues. Parking cost, $0. Easy access and egress. No irritating merchandising. The Eagles displayed more energy, but they have 10 - 15 years less than the Boys. A good time. Help me, Rhonda.

Later adjourned to what is now my #2 martini bar. A good pour and a very good price. No irritating political holding forth. Just soccer on the TV, for some inexplicable reason. The gal I took to the concert broke in her first martini. Then two more. Those were of the candy variety. I stuck with old tried and true. Also had a Bushmills 18 year old. The whiskey, you pervs. Went down smooth. A man could get used to that.

Browns vs. Packers

Hey, didn't I say MORE Defense just below? Not fold like a bunch of sissy marys?

Now Here's Cappy, with the Sports!

More suckitude from the Indians. Shaq on Conan O'Briend last night just whetted the appetite to get the featherheads the F off the tube so the Cavs can start their era of complete and brutal dominance.

Later tonight it's the Browns first pre-season game. Cappy wants little drama. Your Browns key stats: Sacks. Reduced sacks on our QB, good. Same or more as last year, bad. It is simple like that, peeps. Don't expect great things from Brady, or any receiver if the guy has to pass laid out flat on the ground.

OSU should dominate the Big Ten. Because that is how god has ordained it. I expect Pryor to get even better this year. But can the Big Ten cut it vs. SEC, etc? Very questionable. Hey, how's bout playing more real teams in non-conference games? After all, no in-state team has beaten the Buckeyes since the Might Yeomen of Oberlin laid them low early in the adminstation of Warren G. Harding. Also, if you liked the OSU game and want to relive it simultaneously to picking up SEC action, just replay the game in fast forward.

Don't like to post about politics. In these parts since there ain't Republicans any politics really is personal. But always have been disgusted by Eric Holder's attack on America. Since my congressbitch is a waste of oxygen, and one Senator is still reliving the Civil War and the other is just another raspy-voiced Yalie that's one half of a power couple, I sent the following to a neighboring Congressman. For what it's worth:

I am contacting you with this concern mostly because my congresswoman, Marcia Fudge only follow her own agenda and it is no use bringing anything else to her attention.
I read with concern about the likely prosecution of Americans engaged in defending all of us from terrorism by Eric Holder. Here is the link where I found this.
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-cia-interrogate9-2009aug09,0,34626.story

Those that protect and defend our country from terrorism should not be attacked by our own government. Mr. Holder has said before that we are a nation of cowards. Since this is what he believes he should not be Attorney General. His holding the position shows a cynical snorkeling at the public trough for those he holds in contempt.

We need an Attorney General that will protect Americans from terrorism.

Slept in today and took it way easy. Gonna be a lot of purchasing between now and the shoveoff to NYC. Yesterday's festivities were good.

End of the daughter's summer program this afternoon, wating for the big show in a couple of hours. Ex in tow, recent ex girlfriend possibly there too. Many years later, still have to take it easy.

Been taking it easy for 4 months. Two weeks from now to dropoff at college. Signed up for fantasy football, but experience has shown you can't beat the pros in evaluating a draft strategy.

Actually, very placid summer. Pretty much bricked in by taking the kid all over the place and the slow pace of work. I'm going to miss her when she goes, but this will give a lot of free time. Want to put a few points on the board with new secondary technology. Just haven't had big enough blocks of time to do so this year. Did enjoy my time with the last girlfriend, but that is ovah due to scheduling infeasibility and am meeting new ones pretty well. No martinis adminstered yet.

Watching The Goode Family is about all the politics I can squeeze out. Those cartoons are pretty close to my family, except for my daughter who has turned out all right. I don't have such a kind view of others around these parts. When Bob Taft proved himself to be a petty crook the peeps downstate stood up and whupped the GOP, as they deserved. When fatass DiMoron continues to swill at the trough his fellow Dems here don't have the balls or brains to trot out someone better. Which should not be hard to do. This includes the tofu gobbling hippies what are chock full of opinion at the mere mention of the word W, but can't be seen when the fuck pigs at the county are snorkeling up funds. And of course there ain't any Republicans in these parts. So, the question to my neighbors is, who exactly are the yokels? Huh? You or Clem and Zeke from Zanesville?

Summer Break

At the Fortress of Database Excellence.

In the final week of my kid's internship, and attending to the festivities thereof. Very slow here, due to said attending. Also slow at work. BabeTrolling continues. Pretty good.
