Back at work again. Things didn't boil over while I was out. This may be a good time to start shifting onto the new performance assignment. I'm getting tasks and that's what I'll be evaluated on for the rest of the year. Once a new DBA is hired it shouldn't be so hard to transition my projects.

Being back at work is good. Not much more to do at home except mope around.

We read the will today and it was pretty smooth. No surprises at all, none were expected. Bad mistake trying to discuss my daughter's summer plans and High School with the ex yesterday. The ex is on the move again, threatening more ridiculous B.S. for High School. Cannot handle that at this time. Back to work tomorrow. Probably a good time to bury myself in technical arcana, not a good time to work and play well with others.

Things went back to more normal yesterday. I did stretch too far, trying to talk sense with the ex-wife about High School for our daughter. The ex was very considerate during my mom's funeral, so I thought reason might be appropriate. Nope. As nuts as ever. Wants to "rent part of my house" from me. Not a chance.

We'll be reading the will this afternoon. I do not expect any surprises. Tomorrow back to work. I'm sure the projects are ablaze and quarterly earnings heavily impacted by my absence.

Mom's funeral was yesterday. It was a commemoration of a joy filled life, and she brought happiness to all who knew her. It was a long day.

I simply cannot believe that many people can't get beyond their hatred of George Bush and of America, even in a time of grief. I do not comprehend why proficiency testing of school children is evil, why Bush devised it in a nefarious plot, or why it is important to discuss this before and after my mother's funeral. Toward the end of the evening the entire discussion was leftist lamentations over lost elections. I want to avoid these people as much as possible. Their behavior was ghoulish.

My mother passed away this morning. She never had a bitter day in her life. Her memory will be a blessing.

Another chopped up weekend, but not doing too badly at the end of it. My little sister was in town to be with mom and see for herself what's going on. It's good that she did this. Mom's gone downhill fast and she needed to see it for herself.

Mom seems to be more comfortable and they're giving her all the attention possible where she lives.

Big writing competition over the weekend for my daughter. She writes good. I'm very proud of her!

Ex was in the hospital from Monday of this week until today. Had my daughter with me. This is a lot of trouble the ex is seeing. And bad for the kid. Can't do much but be there for my daughter.

My mom looks like she's about to go. She's 89 and barely eats anything, only 1 or 2 spoonfulls of food a day. I saw her toninght and she was pretty weak. Looked bad.

Tiring week capped off with an overnighter at work in order to be sure I could make my daughter's school parent conference this morning. The kid is doing great at school. I'm dead tired. A conversion weekend at work but I don't have any big role.

I just got a call from the ex that she can't handle our daughter. This is the second weekend in a row this has happened, puncutated by the ex's stroke and my overnighter. This could be the start of something big. And bad. I hope not.
