Started to do my taxes tonight. Some fun, huh? I also donned the CaptainSQL cape and flew to the rescue of the application team and another DBA on some minor stuff on the install. It was brilliant, if I do say so myself!

I was at the airport greeting my daughter last night, and had dinner with her and the ex. This was a great trip for my kid! The ex behaved herself.

I'm going to remind her that she can't move the kid out of the county, as plolitely as possible. The system installation went well this weekend. At least I didn't get paged. In any case, it's in and I don't have any screaming work crises to handle. There shouldn't be any controversy over high school. The ex is as receptive as she'll ever be right now.

My daughter comes back from the Bahamas this evening. I hope she had a good time. Still don't understand why she threw a world class temper tantrum at her mom before going. Maybe it's payback for 10 years of lies she got from the ex.

My fears drifted to the threat to take my daughter away from me, out of town, today at work. I came up with a list of legal actions to take. These aren't any comfort. The deck is pretty well stacked against dads who are trying to see their kids. Later I filed it away at home and took a long walk, and talked with some friends. Feeling less stressed now.

The Thrill is Gone
from the threats from the ex. I've had a lot of sleeplessness because of her threats for infinite private school, etc in the last couple of years. I should be up all night worried about losing my kid when she moves her illegally out of town but I must be in threat overload. It may not happen. If it does there will have to be a lot of money wasted with attorneys.

She reported that my kid paid the least for her school's boondoggle trip to the Bahamas. Good. If they don't like it they can all line up and suck my balls. Actually, they ought to pay my kid for attending it.

The NFC playoff is dull.

I did what was right and discussed High School for my daughter with my ex today. Not as much push back as I thought but there was the threat that she'll move way out of town as soon as the $$$$$$$$$ for private school run out. That means if she does it then has a heart attack when she get to a completely strange city my daughter becomes an orphan.

What a fucking surprise.

She also made a bid to move back in with me. I'll have to notify my devoted readership that the is August will mark the 10th anniversary of our breakup.

It will remain to be seen if the ex will completely fuck up even something as simple as my daughter signing up for High School.

My daughter is off to the Bahamas with her class, the poor thing! Who wouldn't want to freeze their toes off here? I think the not-coming-over incident was normal teenage crap. Her mom reported she had a tantrum that night. I'll roll with this one.

When she stopped by last night to pick up some of her stuff for the trip she left copies of the stories she wrote for the competition. She writes good!

My daughter didn't come over tonight. This is not the end of the world. But I'll keep an eye on the number of "refusals" for the next couple of months. Work is hectic but seems OK overall. Looking forward to the weekend.

Fortunately, testing was really boring today, which meant things went well.

This has been a really big week for my kid. She placed second in the school's Geography Bee earlier in the week. Then today I got a call a work. She was second in the district writing competition today, which covers a couple of counties! This is great! I'm really happy for her!

It's been a tough week, as one could expect from the posting below. My daughter has had a rough time and I'm getting a lot of rejection from her. It has to be expected after 10 years of poison aimed at me from people close to her. But it's scary, and there's nothing I can do directly to help her. It's been frustrating, but calmer heads are helping prevail.

A rotten weekend with the daughter. Snowbound again, with the car in the shop for a new water pump ($$$), and she regurgitates 12 years of Parental Alienation. Wants to use her mom's maiden name, switch her ethnicity, etc. She's informed me that I annoy her teachers when I request information. These teachers are legally obliged to send me all information about her.

And she doesn't seem to get along too well with her mom, either. At this rate, she'd better have a good look at and whiff of our fine foster care system.

She can park her scapegoating somewhere else. If she's bored it's up to her to find and commit to activities to fix that, or make some friends. Yes, she's isolated in school. No, I don't prevent her from calling or seeing any of her classmates. At age 12 she's past the stage when I have to arrange play-dates, like in pre-school.

She doesn't like it when I attend her events, but claims that I don't care about her if I miss one or have to work from home on the weekend. Each time I attend a school function, where I know I'm not wanted is a big sacrifice. She acts as if all our weekend activities together never happened. I'm beginning to think that the time I spent with her and especially the court-ordered money sent to her asshole private school are not only a waste, but have contributed to her alienation.

The ex was in the Emergency Room yesterday, so everything is pushed around a lot. Working from home tomorrow while getting a light fixture replaced. Meetings up the ass at work.

As has become expected, my kid's school is stiffing me on information. My mom in a nursing home got her copy of the school's annual report on 12/31/2004. That includes the time to forward the thing. I haven't gotten it yet.

Scum never rests.

Really nice New Year's eve with the girlfriend. We saw National Treasure, which was unexpectedly good. The kid is going to be busy this month, with a writing and a geography competition (Alex, I'll have Islands for 200). Private school tuition is now below 18 months, and we are nearing the 2/3 mark on child support.
